Expert Review

Mahoney's

With our final prototype and company platform, we went to Mahoney's, a local garden center and discussed our product and company with a gardener. The main takeaways included:

  • Customers want to know where the compost comes from and what it is made of.

  • Different soils and different conditions require different amount of compost.

  • Immediate release is preferable in small amounts so customers can adjust how much compost to apply.

  • Too much compost in a short duration can harm the roots of some plants, basil for example.

Compost pods are viable – Anything works if it is organic, but you have to teach customers how to use it.
